The invention history of Circuit Breaker: In 1879 Thomas Edison first described the form of the circuit breaker. Though this time his commercial power distribution system used fuses. The purpose behind this idea was, it will protect lighting circuit wiring from accidental short circuits and overloads. A modern day’s miniature circuit breaker is similar to the once use was patented by Brown, Boveri & Cie in 1924.

All the circuit breaker systems offer the same features in their operation. But details are not same. Because of their sizes, voltage class, current rating, and type of the circuit breaker. First of all the circuit breaker detect a faulty condition. In rain and simple short circuit, it is detected by the device itself. The contacts carry the load current without excessive heating. This contact is made of copper alloys, silver alloys, and other highly conductive materials.

An arc is generated when a current or voltage is generated. The arc length is proportional to the voltage. While on the other side, the intensity is proportional to the current. Our electrical panel is almost full of circuit breakers. It is running from top to bottom of the service panel.

If a circuit breaker tripping frequently, that means you need to consider it’s a bad circuit breaker. And need to replace it. The job of a circuit breaker is to trip when there is a fault or problem detect in the circuits. If we see a circuit breaker tripping frequently, you need to find whether it’s tripping. It is tripping because there is an electrical problem arise. Or, you have to consider the circuit breaker is bad.
